Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends the benefits of football scholarship with community service. He is the youngest child from Lucious Selmon and Jessie Selmon. They had him raised on their farm in Eufala. Two soccer. He is among three brothers who played for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the top offensive lineman in country by Outland and Lombardi Awards. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. The team also took home the national title twice. Selmon was an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given the opportunity to receive a scholarship in his third time in 1975. Selmon received a degree in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout his time in college. Following graduation Lee Roy relocating to Tampa and spent the next nine years playing with Tampa's Buccaneers. There were three times he was named an All-Pro. He began his business career. His first job was as a Account Relations Officer with First Florida Bank, Tampa. He has worked on the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that In 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top 10 outstanding youngsters throughout the United States. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch taller and weighing the hefty 256 pounds at college when he was an athlete, was captain of his team for the year 1975. He joined his current position at University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame through his fellow members of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 and The Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. The presentation was made by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
